This is a very rare gemstone crystal, untreated, uncut and unpolished, just as it was found in the earth, known in Burma as a "spirit polished" stone.
Many of the famous "rubies" throughout history were later found to be spinel after the invention of modern gemological testing tools.
We acquired this stone many years ago while studying gemology in Bangkok, Thailand.
It has been a part a treasured part of our gem collection but we have decided to let it go and let someone else enjoy the natural beauty.
This lovely natural crystal weighs 4.32 carats and measures 6.7x7.1mm.
