These lovely sterling silver filigree star earrings are an original work of art, designed and made by me in my studio in Sitka, Alaska.
Handcrafted in high quality tarnish-resistant Argentium sterling silver using the traditional process of lost wax casting.
After casting each piece is then carefully hammered, a silver ball is fused in the center, the jump ring is soldered on and they are all hand-polished to an ultra high finish.
This is one of my favorite designs, developed over the course of my 20 years as a professional jewelry designer and silversmith.
This type of filigree is my own unique style, made using the unique fluid properties of silver in it's molten state as part of the design itself.
Every wire end that comprises the piece is melted with a torch to eliminate sharp edges and give the design a smooth, fluid feel.
The originals are then molded and cast in small batches.
